Anybody know where I can get it online? A cursory search of the interweb isn't throwing up much.

Yes, but that's £5.50 more than the one on eBay once postage is taken into account.

That's fair enough - I didn't check ebay price.
Musicroom tend to be more competitivey priced, in comparison with Hudson Music, for e.g.

Just another option.

'tis an excellent DVD and well worth the small investment. I can't imagine any other way of improving kit sounds so dramatically for 15 quids.

Cheers,

A most excellent resource, not only because the informtaion is very useful, but also because of the friendly, gently amusing and utterly charming way that the nice Mr Ranscombe puts it all across.

Also, the skills are instantly repeatable to a very high standard without having to practise for hours, which is very rare in a drum DVD.

Seen this dvd recommended before,as well as the youtube links to Bob Gatzen etc. Just wondering, for those of you that have the dvd, what specifically does this offer that the other resources don't? Like everyone else, I want to improve my ability to tune drums but am unsure how to spend my money- on said dvd or a lesson? Interested to hear any views.

Mr Randsombe has a straight forward, reliable, repeatable system that allows you to quickly get your drums in to the zone every time. He is good at de-mystifying drum tuning in general, helping drummers get stuck in about it without being worried that they will go in to a tuning tail spin which they can't pull out of. Unlike Mr Gatz and some others, he has no direct allegiance with a manufacturer who he is obliged to try to sell.

Cheers

My reaction, and same result, as after my session with him. AND his DVD knocks spots off anything else I've seen or read on tuning.

I tuned my 12" tom last night using the Ransombe method after the head had seated for 24 hours and it was a doddle. I've always been quite anal about trying to get the head sounding even at every lug but now I have the confidence to not be too bothered.

Nice one, Martin. My tom sounds great.

I bought a copy off the back of this thread. Watched it last night and it really does signpost the magical mystery tour that is tuning for me. To busy to give it a go for this weekends gig but will be having a go sunday.

Just a little critisism that I'm sure if I had a lesson with Mr Ranscombe wouldn't be an issue, is a few to many "that will do for now" comments. I really wanted to hear what he considered finished. I know it's really pointing you towards getting the sound you want but still, would have been nice to hear the drum as he likes it. Oh and he says "cool" a lot

Worth every £ though I'm more relaxed and confident about starting from scratch again.

another vote for Mr Ranscombe. Had a great day with him last week and went away with my kit sounding better than ever. And now I feel I have the ability to keep them sounding that way!

<Edit>

I just need to correct what I wrote there. Martin does have support from several different manufacturers but he is never "in your face" about it and you never get any overt product selling from him

So glad I bought this video played a venue last night the Guild hall in Chester. Fairly big room with lots of reverb the kit needed micing My Highwood snare sounded very low miced up even the bass player commented it needs cranking. After sound check I took it to the van I had half an hour so took the wires off and applied the tuning from the point where the heads have been seated onwards, back to finger tight and went for it. Marvelous so chuffed with the sound I got within 20 minutes I was grinning like a loon all through the first song.

Tuned the starclassic today less bass drum because I am happy with that as it is. Always had a problem with the 12" tom being a bit flat now it sings with the rest of the kit now to wait for the next gig so I can get the guitarist to play it and hear my efforts but to me it sounds great. And I wasn't far off with the 10" and 14" toms as they were so a bit of a "hell yeah!!" moment for me aswell.

My second best purchase this year after my zoom Q3.
